Clean Jordan Lake - 17 March 2012

When:  9:00 AM, 17 March 2012

Where:  Boaters – Robeson Creek Boat Ramp

Walkers – Gum Springs Church Road (1 mi. further south along Gum Springs Rd. from the boat ramp)

What:   Help NCAEP clean up Jordan Lake! Depending on number/type of NCAEP commitments, we will be assigned a reach of shoreline to clean.

The Haw River watershed is home to 900,000 citizens.  A large volume of trash comes from illegal dumping in this watershed and others that drain into Jordan Lake.  High flow rates associated with storm events carry household items as well as litter in the form of personal use products thrown on the sides of highways and riparian areas.  Objects as large of refrigerators, hot water heaters and tires (many still on rims) have been found along the high water mark of many remote coves on the Haw River Arm of Jordan Lake.

Dress appropriately for the weather and the work (i.e. long sleeve shirts and pants).

Please register by March 15 to help us have an accurate headcount and plan ahead.

WE NEED BOATS…volunteers with boats (gas-, electric-, and human-powered) can help NCAEP access more locations and collect more trash!! NCAEP will be providing trucks and other equipment to assist in the clean up.
